Glitchy

I needed this because I purchased a new laptop that only had 2 USB 3.0 ports and I needed another. Laptop does have 2 USB-C ports, more on those in a minute. Laptop also didn't have an ethernet port and I needed one of those as well. One of the USB ports was used for a wireless mouse and when plugged directly into the port on the laptop it functions perfectly. However I have 2 other work related items that need to plug into the laptop via USB connections and I wanted to plug one of those directly into the laptop because it HAS to work perfectly. So I'm using the adapter for the mouse and for the other item. Plugged into the adapter the mouse doesn't work unless I can get the adapter aligned just so. If it gets jostled and moved even slightly the mouse won't function. It's extremely frustrating and annoying. Adapter seems otherwise fine and sturdy, looks nice as well but something in the in the cable or USB connection isn't quite right. Maybe I just got a glitchy one because most of the reviews seem pretty good.EditReturned the original adapter and Amazon sent me another just like it. The second one functions perfectly as per most of the other reviews. Problem solved quickly and I'm really happy with the product so I've updated the stars to 5.

Very high quality

It does exactly what it says and does it perfectly. Had no issues using ethernet or any of the usb ports on it. Was able to plug-in an external nvme into it and it worked just fine. The build quality is also impressive and should not break if you drop it. Definitely worth the price.

A good quality hub, for laptop users needing wired network connectivity and extra USB3 ports

Acer make a range of hubs for use with their laptops and other brands. This one, connects to your laptop or mobile device's USB-A or USB-C port, via a short (15cm), flexible cable, providing three 5Gbps USB 3.0 (Type A) ports, and an RJ45 Gig Ethernet port.It's ideal, if your laptop doesn't already have an RJ45 port, enabling you to connect to wired Ethernet, instead of using Wi-Fi, which is generally slower and less reliable than a wired connection.It's truly plug-n-play, and works straight out of the box (no drivers required). It recognised all the devices that I plugged in, and allowed me to transfer data between flash-drives, my phone and my laptop. I was able to achieve a download speed of 148Mbps (limited to 150Mbps via my ISP), but it's obviously capable of much faster speeds.Although there are no USB-C ports on this hub, you can use USB-C to A adapters, but speeds will be limited to 5Gbps (max). Having said that, its still over 10 times faster than USB2 but is, of course, backwardly compatible. It can also be used with any laptop, but obviously data speeds will be limited on older laptops (without any USB-C or USB3 ports).It's a good build quality, with a smooth, aluminium casing and matching USB-A plug. All plugs and sockets fit securely, although I would have preferred slightly more spacing between the USB ports, but that's a minor issue. The RJ45 port has LEDs to indicate the network connection status, and there's a power indicator. However, if I was going to suggest one improvement, it would be the inclusion of a USB-C PD power input socket (to power mobile devices).Priced at $18.99 when reviewed, it's a good quality, good value hub, and should suit most laptop users that are looking for wired network connectivity, and a couple of extra USB3 ports.
